Album Description
The album that defined the Blank Pages sound.
For their 2003 sophomore release 45 and 33, Blank Pages moved to a professional studio and teamed with engineer Drew Mazurek (Love Nut, Greenberry Woods). While the result still offered the sweet melodies and catchy hooks of the debut, the band achieved a more confident and powerful sound.
“Going into the recording of 45 and 33, we were looking for something like Matthew Sweet fronting Superdrag,” said Potter. “We recorded very detailed demos at home before entering the studio, so arrangements were well planned. We laid down all of the rhythm tracks as a live band and it gave the record a great energy.”
The album stands as the band’s best seller and perhaps most critically acclaimed release. A particular point of pride was the glowing review the record received at AllMusic.com. Featuring Greg Potter on vocals, guitar, and keyboards; Ed McCaffrey on drums and background vocals; Wayne Philipp on bass; and Jon Mollenhauer on lead guitar.
